Ishchial Bursitis
What is it?
The inflammation of the bursae is known as bursitis. Bursae are small fluid-filled sacs. They are found in various parts of your body between your muscles and bones. Their purpose is to provide cushioning between your muscles, bones, tendons, and joints.
The lower part of your hip bone is known as the ischium. When you sit, the ischium, also known as the sit bones, bears the majority of your weight. Ischial bursitis occurs when the bursae that cushion your hip bones become inflamed and painful as a result of irritation.
Weaver’s bottom is another name for ischial bursitis. People who sit on hard surfaces for long periods of time or who exercise using the same repetitive hip movements are more likely to develop this condition.
