Trochanteric Bursitis

What is it?

Trochanteric bursitis is inflammation (swelling) of the bursa (fluid-filled sac near a joint) at the greater trochanter on the outside (lateral) side of the hip. When this bursa is irritated or inflamed, it causes hip pain. Hip pain is frequently caused by this.
